We all know that dehydration in pets can lead to serious health issues. It’s recommended that dogs consume roughly 1 cup of water per 10 lbs. of body weight, per day. Cats tend to drink a slightly less, as their bodies have developed physiologic strategies for conserving water. Is your baby reach their daily quota?
Finley didn’t even come close to this when she first came home with me. This was likely a key variable in her past kidney issues. Thankfully, this changed when I bought her the Raindrop Ceramic Drinking Fountain for her birthday last year.
We love this fountain because;
- The motor is extremely quiet, thus does not intimidate her
- Ceramic is the ideal material for her, she loves to drink from coffee mugs but not her stainless steel dish (Plastic is NOT RECOMMENDED, as microscopic scratches form on the surface over time, which can trap bacteria and can cause acne that is both painful and unsightly.)
- Fountain offers two drinking surfaces; a circulating bowl and a gentle waterfall trickle -seeming logical for a blind pet (If you have a pet that loves to drink from a faucet or have multiple pets, you may want to consider Drinkwell Stainless Multi-Pet Pet Fountain.)
